Submitted a Request Letter to 15th SAARC Summit

Ban Landmines Campaign Nepal (NCBL) submitted a letter to 15th SAARC Summit requesting to take major and collective effort to make Mine Free SAARC region. It has urge to all SAARC government representatives to sign the Mine Ban Convention (Ottawa Treaty) as well as to participate and sign the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) in Oslo 2-3 December 2008. Letter was cc to Rt. Honorable Prime Minister, Government of Nepal; People's SAARC, Colombo, Sri Lanka; International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL); and Cluster Munitions Coalition (CMC).

Nepal on Landmines and Ottawa Treaty: Local View on Mine Action and Ottawa Treaty - Research Report

Ban Landmines Campaign Nepal (NCBL) has commissioned a research with an objective of forming national consensus and encouraging the concerned parties to take quick result-oriented steps. Titled as “Local view on Mine Action and the Ottawa Treaty”, the research was carried out in 10 districts namely Bhojpur, Morang, Siraha, Bara, Makawanpur, Tanahun, Rupandehi, Dailekh, Banke and Kanchanpur. The research mainly focused on the problems of landmines, situation of Mine Action, local people’s view on use of landmines and the Ottawa Convention.

Victims' Voice Against Landmines & IEDs

18-25 August 2007
The people who were victimised by landmines and explosives in the course of nearly an 11-year-old armed conflict between the government and the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Maoist gathered in Kathmandu and raised their voices for their rights. The victims expressed their pain, suffering, and problems and put forward their demands during various programmes organized by Nepal Campaign to Ban Landmines (NCBL) in the capital.
