Risk Education (MRE) Progarm in Five Districts |

Ban Landmines Campaign Nepal (NCBL) and Women Development Society (WODES) jointly organized MRE (Mine Risk Education) Programs in five different districts of Nepal; Dhading, Ramechhap, Rukum, Salyan and Sindhupanchok on the theme "Landmines/IEDs: It's Impacts and Danger" from 31 March 2004. In those programs representatives of Security Forces, all Major Polical Parties, Human Rights Organizations, Nepal Red Cross, Nepal Scout, Journalist's Fedaration, Local Government Authorities, Students, Local People, Landmine Victims and Victims by Conflict were participated. Various newspapers carried the news of the program. Following is one of them: Kantipur Daily (Translated News) 4 April, 2004 Manthali, Ramechhap Ban Landmines Campaign Nepal (NCBL) and Women Development Society (WODES) jointly organized a one day Mine Risk Education Program on "Landmines/ IEDs and Socio-Economic Impact on General People" in Manthali, Ramechhap. The Chief Guest of the Program, the Chief District Officer Chudamani Basyal stress the need of awareness activities program on landmines for saving the life of innocent people especially the children and women. The Deputy Superitendent of Police Ram Prasad Shrestha and former member of Parliament Dev Shankar Paudel also spoke on that program. A mine victim, Durga Prasad Paudel read a sentimental poem on that occasion. NCBL/WODES distributed school bags, stationeries, books, dress to the orphan girls victimized by the conflict. In that program the organizer informed that NCBL/ WODES is organizing school education program for victim children in different districts.
