NCBL organized an Inter-Ministerial Interaction Program on "Existing Situation and Future Plan of Mine Action" in Kathmandu on 25 February 2008. In the program Purna Shova Chitrakar, Coordinator, NCBL; Mr. Saligram Sharma, Under Secretary, Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction; Mr. Arjun Bahadur Bhandary, Under Secretary, Ministry of Education; Brigadier General Dhani Das Karki, Chief, Mine Action Center, Nepal Army presented paper on mine action in Nepal. All papers presented were focussed on the present situation of mine action and further activities to be done in future.

Representatives of different ministries Mr. Yegendra Upadhya, Ministry of Water Resources; Mr. Mohan Nath Maskey, Ministry of Defence; Mr. Thaneswor Bhushal, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative; Mr. Surya Koirala, Ministry of Local development, Mr. Gehanath Gautam, Ministry of Education and Sports; Mr. Shushil Dhakal, Ministry of Finance; Mr. Parashuram Aryal, Ministry of Information and Communication; Mr. Lok Bahadur Khatri, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation took part in floor discussion.

All the participants believed that some positive steps has been taken on mine action and lots more to be done. Similarly, Nepal should sign on Mine Ban Treaty. For this higher level political decision is necessary in this situation.

All the participants from different ministries showed their commitment to do their related parts on mine action.

On the occasion Mr. Charles Pradhan, Coordinator, Canadian Cooperation Office, Canadian Embassy to Nepal stressed on the coordination between government and non government organizations on mine action.
