Impact of Landmines/IEDs on Educational Sector

An Interaction program was held on "Empact of Landmines/IEDs on Educational Sector" on 6 January 2006. Mr. Shiva Paudel from Child Development Committee, Social Welfare Council, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Sangita Hamal, Secretary of PABSON (School ower's organization), MR. Narayan, Deputy Director of Educational Department of Ministry of Education, Hon. Prakash Jwala-former parliamentatian and Purna Shova Chitrakar NCBL Coordinator presented papers on this topics. From NGOs and INGOs, human rights activitist, student unions, teacher's organizations, journalists were participated in that program. Three victims, Hari Bahadur Karki-Ramechhap District, Anisha Rana-Kaski districts and Tara Khatri from Gulmi districts shared their experiences and thoughts on the issue. They told their painful stories after the incidents of mines. 53 participant from different sectors were participated in that program.

The main theme of the program was to draw attention on this issue and stop usining landines and IEDs in educational sectors, to clear mines from schools areas, to stop using students for using, manufacturing mines etc.

Impact of Landmines/IEDs and Human Rights
(4 May 2006)

Interaction program on Human Rights and landmines was organized on 4 May 2006. On the program Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Former minister and facilitator of peace negotiation, Kapil Shrestha, former member of National Human Rights Commision, Krishna Jang Rayamajhi, ex supreme court justice, and different human rights activists were participated and delivered their speeches. NCBL raised the issue of Mine Ban and include the issue in Code of Conduct. Padma Ratna and Kapil Shrestha promised to put the agenda in code of conduct.
